Message Template Registration will be Mandatory from 31st January.

As SMS marketing has become a popular means of communicating with the potential target demographics, business owners share with sending bulk messages to the database at a time. The low cost of the messaging and the feasibility of the process have ensured the growth of the means consistently in the market.

But this development has also provided the growth of spam messaging to a particular extent. The rate of spam is increasing so fast that regulation is much needed now. Authorised agency DLT has come up with some new rules to control this phenomenon.

What is DLT?

DLT or Distributed Ledger Technology is a registration system based on the block chain system. You must know the organisation regulating India’s telecommunication functions, popularly known as TRAI, aka Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

TRAI has declared that all the telemarketing agencies or service providers are supposed to register in the DLT to send bulk messages. This initiative has been taken to avoid the phenomenon of spam messages in telecommunication facilities.

Why registration?

As the DLT system keeps the sender IDS records and template through a message in the telecommunication industry, TRAI has declared to register all the message templates in use to register at DLF for further availability before 31st January 2021.

DLT also manages those data related to templates, and this is why registration has become necessary. Without registration, the process of sending messages will be blocked by the service provider agencies. The operators will secure the connection for sending bulk messages further.

Steps for registration

Follow these steps to register your businesses-

  1. You should register the business entity with your registration or the entity’s ID by adding them to the officially registered account on DLT.
  2. Take a screenshot of your DLT account after the registration is done. Send this screenshot to the email id of the support team of the registration. Promotional arrangements will require a header of numeric 6 digits, and non-promotional will look for alpha records of 6character.

Promotional accounts are used for sending messages for promotions of products or potential offers to prospective customers. On the other hand, non-promotional reports can be used for sending OTPs, transactional messages, or service-related messages to the consumers of definite brand or banks.

The registration is essential for the agencies offering bulk messaging services to the clients at an affordable rate as a marketing tool. As without registration, the process will be at stake and the communication the business houses are looking up to.
